Living only five miles from the 10,000 acre Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge in Glenn County affords me the opportunity to visit often. When the light changes or a weather pattern develops, I head out for a couple of hours of shooting. My favorite season is winter when the migrating waterfowl are in abundance. The Refuge also offers stunning vistas of the iconic Sutter Buttes Range to the east and Snow Mountain in the North Coast Range to the west. Another favorite area of mine is the Glenn County foothill area. Some of the scenic landscapes in the foothills haven't changed in hundreds of years. Fields of spring wildflowers and rolling hills dotted with majestic valley oaks are the norm.
My photographs have been exhibited in gallery shows throughout the Northern Sacramento Valley, including juried shows such as the Snow Goose Festival Art Show in Chico, the North Valley Art League in Redding, Sundial Film Festival, Redding, Chico Art Center and Orland Art Center. I have had photographs published by the California Newspaper Publishers Association, Portland Monthly Magazine, Willows Chamber of Commerce, At&T and Valley Yellow Pages, Sacramento Valley Mirror newspaper, Chico Storm Water Management Program Clean Creeks, and Sutter Buttes Regional Land Trust.
I hope my photographs provide a glimpse of beautiful rural northern California. Please enjoy the slideshow and scroll through the folders below for more photos.
